Mental Health is equally important as physical health. However, due to the taboo associated with it, issues about mental health are not discussed publicly. There is a need to create awareness about mental health among women. The situations that women are subjected to in their day-to-day life impact their mental health. Domestic violence and abuse are associated with an increased risk of mental illness. Women who have experienced domestic violence or abuse are at a significantly higher risk of experiencing a range of mental health conditions. Both victims as well as the abusers- who often experience outburst followed by remorse and apology; are in a dire need of psychological support and counseling. For this purpose, Yashwantrao Chavan Center will be organizing group counseling sessions, seminars and workshops to address these issues.
