Health, Disability and Senior citizens department was established in the year 2006 with the concept of MP Supriya Sule, Working President of Yashwantrao Chavan Centre. Public awareness about the welfare schemes, laws and concessions available for the physical, mental and financial empowerment of the differently-abled, senior citizens as well as the common citizens is created through various activities and workshops. With the guidance of coordinators of this department, Vijay Kanhekar and Datta Balsaraf, many activities are carried out efficiently.
A unique initiative “A Search of Happy Life" is implemented to maintain a good mental health. The State Level Health Awareness Conference is also organized every year.
We consistently take initiatives and efforts to help differently-abled persons to directly avail the benefits of Government schemes and bring them into the mainstream. Various initiatives are taken to bring the Central Government Schemes like ADIP closer to the differently-abled persons. Workshops are conducted at local and district levels as well as State level conferences are held every three years.
The Government of India has launched the Rashtriya Vayoshri Yojana for the senior citizens of the country. Hearing aids/devices are provided to hearing impaired senior citizens. Through YCC’s initiative, the scheme has reached about 16,000 beneficiaries so far.
We have also provided important recommendations and suggestions that arose during our workshops on Health, Disabled and Senior citizens to the Central and State government, as policy interventions. We were, are and will continue to be with them for the health of all, for the senior citizens, and for the physical, mental and financial empowerment of the differently-abled persons.
